CALZEDONIA,

CALZEDONIA FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The legwear and beachwear brand from Verona has implemented various policies throughout its supply chain to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the environment. 7.5 million plastic bottles saved in 2020.

Since it was founded, the Calzedonia Group has been dedicated not only to the quality of its products, but also to the environment, thanks to its responsible manufacturing processes. Sustainability and minimal environmental impact have always been a pillar of the international strategy of the Group, which includes the objective of eliminating disposable plastic from its B2C packaging by 2025 and from its B2B packaging by 2030.

As a first step down this path, Calzedonia is introducing packaging and boxes made from recycled materials. Most of the paper used to make the brand’s tags, packaging and shopping bags is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), an organization that guarantees compliance with strict environmental, social and economic standards in forest management. As of 2018, all in-store purchases have come with a 100% recycled paper shopping bag, entirely replacing their plastic equivalents.

The Group has also implemented other solutions to help protect the environment. They include replacing PVC with PET for certain types of packaging (the latter is easier to recycle) and, as of 2020, plastic-free B2B shipments of hosiery multipacks.
Calzedonia’s environmental commitment is reflected in a few key figures: in 2020, thanks to the introduction of new recycled packaging materials, the brand estimates it will save a total of 82 tons (75,000 kg) of plastic, the equivalent of 7.5 million bottles being removed from the environment. These impressive achievements are just the start, as Calzedonia plans to adopt other sustainable practices in the future, confirming its objective of doing business in the most environmentally-friendly way possible.
